British Abbey rejects Da Vinci Code film plans

LONDON (Reuters) - Producers of the upcoming movie based on the blockbuster novel "The Da Vinci Code" were not allowed to film in Britain's Westminster Abbey after church officials denounced the book as "theologically unsound." (the rest here, also here)

Good for them. Many folks believe the Da Vinci Code is based on historical records, when it is just the fantasy of it's author, Dan Brown. Such books do little but damage the credibility of the good folks in the church who are faithfully trying to do God's work.

Yes, good for them!

I haven't read the book, but based on what people have written, it certainly does seem like it can lead people to some unsound conclusions.

I read the book last summer and found it to be quite an entertaining read. Suspence, mystery, murder, etc.

What doesn't seem to be registering in many people's minds is that this book is a historical fiction. But nether the less, it was a great read.

Geez. Criticizing the unsound theology in the Da Vinci code is like criticizing the science in Jurassic Park. It's a piece of FICTION. A very entertaining piece of fiction too.

But I suppose Westminster Abbey can decide who films in their building so they're in their right to say no.

CalGrit,

The main difference btw the Da Vinci Code and Jurassic park is that folks don't read Jurrasic Park thinking that it might be true or plausible, unlike the Da Vinci Code
